Over 60s go out of the WFA Nationals Cup at the second round stage

The Over 60s team travelled to Solihull for the 2nd round WFA Nationals Cup game against Birmingham.

Lovely facilities and a nice pitch to play on enabled the guys to feel confident about the game. They started brightly but it soon became clear that the Birmingham team were more experienced as a team and more adept at moving the ball around the pitch with confident passing.

Drayton Dynamo struggled to contain the more experienced Birmingham side who raced into a three nil lead at half time despite another good performance from Dynamos keeper Alan, who kept the score down with some fine saves.

The second half saw three substitutes for the Dynamos but it did little to stem the tide and Birmingham extended their lead to six. The Dynamo captain was blue-carded for persistent running yet, during the time with one less player, Drayton managed an excellent consolation goal from Dave Coogan.

The final score was 6-1 to Birmingham but it was another excellent learning opportunity for Drayton Dynamos in how to play competition walking football.

Many thanks to our hosts who made us very welcome.
